Hello all,
We're still in MI ( for 2 more nights). When we last wrote, we were about to play a course in Frankenmuth. It's called the Fortress, and it's one of the best courses we've ever seen - just gorgeous.
We left Frankenmuth and headed north to Tawas City and played Red Hawk GC. It was very nice, but no "Fortress". We stayed one night, then traveled north to the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan and stayed in St. Ignace at a RV park right on Lake Huron, near where LH And Lake Michigan meet. We stayed 2 nights there and played tourist. We went to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point on Lake Superior. Highlight there is lots of info and relics from the Edmund Fitzgerald which sunk a few miles from there in 1975.

For you "birders", we saw 2 Sandhill Cranes along the road both going and coming back to "camp". We had planned to take the ferry to Mackinac Island, but the weather was very threatening, so we donated to the local Indian casino instead.
Spent all day today (Saturday) driving across the southern UP (along the top of Lake Michigan), and are now going to spend 2 days here at Iron Mountain RV Park. Tomorrow we'll be playing one of the top-rated courses in the state (Timber Stone), and then on Monday we'll head to Wisconsin where one of our stops will be to the Green Bay Packers Museum at Lambeau Field.
More to follow....
